There comes a point...

...when it becomes completely pointless that I even try rationalizing with my kids.

me: Please bring all of your things in from the car.
child: Why?
me: Because you will want them for bedtime tonight.
child: oh

30 seconds later...
me: Please close the door.
child: Why?
me: Because you are the last person that is coming in.
child: oh

not 3 seconds later...
me: Please put your shoes away.
child: Why?
me: Because if we leave them in the middle of the room someone might trip over them.
child: oh.

10 seconds later...
me: Please don't throw your socks on the floor.
child: Why?
me: Because dirty socks go in the laundry.
child: oh

20 seconds later...
me: Please don't throw that book on the floor.
child: Why?
me: Because books are special and we need to take care of them.
child: oh

another 10 seconds after that...
me: Please don't step on that toy on the floor.
child: Why?
me: BECAUSE I SAID SO!
child: Okay mommy! (At last said with a cooperative can-do attitude!)

And that everyone is why moms get to say "because I said so!" It happens to be the only phrase that works!

TRUE STORY!
